Bâtiment Pré-Fab inc., a manufacturer of prefabricated buildings sold in ready-to-assemble kits, just inaugurated its new plant in Saint-Hyacinthe. The company, which is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, chose Saint-Hyacinthe as the location of a major investment project that involved moving its production activities to more spacious facilities that would enable its growth.
Located on Lamoureux Street in the Théo-Phénix industrial park, the new plant has approximately 7,000 square feet of surface area. It is already being used to manufacture the preassembled walls for the company’s various products. Bâtiment Pré-Fab inc. began gradually transferring its operations to the region starting last fall, while completing the setup of its new production facilities, which are now fully operational. This investment has created a dozen new jobs in Saint-Hyacinthe.
Launch of the Refuge S560 model
The company took advantage of the inauguration to launch a new energy-efficient home kit. Refuge S560 is a 560-square-foot high-performance home ready for LEED and Novoclimat certification. It was designed by the PARA-SOL architecture firm in collaboration with Écohabitation and the Bâtiment Pré-Fab team.
This is the eighth energy-efficient home model to be offered by the company. The new plant in Maskoutan territory will namely make it possible to produce certain panels for the structures used in this product.
Benoit Gingras, president of Bâtiment Pré-Fab, said: “In the current economic context marked by an overheating real estate market, we wanted to offer a new home model that would allow people, namely first-time homebuyers, to become homeowners at lesser cost. We are pleased to be able to do part of the manufacturing right here and continue our growth in the Maskoutan region. To this end, we would like to thank the Saint-Hyacinthe Technopole team for its support in our investment and relocation project.”
Bâtiment Pré-Fab inc. is one of the few building brokers to offer prefabricated wooden structures, available throughout Quebec. Since the beginning of the year, the company has grown by more than 15% compared to last year. It already has more than 65 homes lined up in its order book. Its ready-to-assemble kits come in a variety of styles and include houses and cottages as well as garages, sheds, solariums and gazebos.
