Saint-Hyacinthe Technopole was thrilled to learn that Exceldor has chosen Saint-Hyacinthe as the site of its new slaughtering and primary processing plant, confirmed in an announcement the company made today.
Exceldor selected the site Saint-Hyacinthe proposed on Pinard Avenue, in the Olivier-Chalifoux industrial park. The company’s exploratory process is ready to enter the next phase. The project’s different aspects can now be specified based on the parameters of the site.
“The effort and energy the entire Saint-Hyacinthe Techopole team poured into this project have been rewarded. While this is not final confirmation that the project will go ahead, Saint-Hyacinthe has won the qualifying round,” said André Barnabé, Saint-Hyacinthe Technopole’s general manager.
According to Barnabé, Saint-Hyacinthe’s solid bid let Exceldor see it would maintain and improve its competitive edge in its business sector by continuing its growth within the Technopole. The site will also allow it to remain in proximity to its poultry production activities and the consumer market, as well as keep its skilled labour from Saint-Damase and the surrounding area.
Barnabé wanted to stress the commitment shown by the elected officials and several City of Saint-Hyacinthe services in moving this project forward. “Joint work between our organization and municipal authorities has once more borne fruit.”
“As of now, Saint-Hyacinthe Technopole will continue its work and maintain contact with Exceldor’s management. The aim is to create optimal conditions that will allow the company to announce, as soon as possible, that the project will proceed, that considerable investments will be made, but most importantly, that the current jobs in Saint-Damase will stay in the area,” said Barnabé.
