Saint-Hyacinthe Technopole reported on business tourism activities in Saint-Hyacinthe for the first half of 2018.
During the first six months of the year, the organisation compiled 31 conventions and events with 40 overnight stays or more compared to 6 for the same period in 2017. Regarding direct spending, compared to 2017 ($165,000), there was almost $1.6 million for the first half of 2018.
The Saint-Hyacinthe Convention Centre has already surpassed by a third its sales objectives as of September 1. For Espace Saint-Hyacinthe, the local exhibition center, there is an increase of 30% in its activities based on the increase in sales completed for installation rentals since the start of the year.
“The Saint-Hyacinthe Technopole, Convention Centre and Espace Saint-Hyacinthe’s teams have developed never before seen collaboration for the promotion of our offer for business tourism clients. This is the first report we have prepared since the opening of the new convention infrastructure, and it shows that this synergy and sales strategy that was adopted by the Cercle des Ambassadeurs has been successful,” noted the Manager of Tourism and Conventions with Saint-Hyacinthe Technopole, Nancy Lambert.
During its 2017-2019 strategic planning, Saint-Hyacinthe Technopole set the objective of welcoming, on an annual basis, 80 conventions and events with 40 overnight stays or more. “If the trend continues, this target will be reached by the end of 2018,” confirmed Mrs. Lambert.
Saint-Hyacinthe is the largest business tourism destination in Quebec’s regions in terms of space available for holding business conventions and events. With the combined offer of the Saint-Hyacinthe Convention Centre and Espace Saint-Hyacinthe, there is a total of 230,000 square feet of convention, exhibit and meeting space available.
