Business is booming for Maskoutan company Ampro Forest Products, which makes Mur Design-brand decorative wall panels. The company just confirmed that it will be investing over $2 M in its Saint-Hyacinthe plant. This announcement was made by the company’s president, Alain Messier, and vice-president of operations, Maxime Santerre, accompanied by Saint-Hyacinthe Technopole’s general manager, André Barnabé.
Ampro will be buying new state-of-the-art equipment to operate a third finishing line and a second printing line to manufacture MDF, particleboard and melamine panels. This will triple the plant’s production capacity.
Major investments were needed to meet strong demand for the company’s products, namely on the U.S. market. “In the next few months, our products will be sold in nearly 200 additional Home Depot stores across Canada and over 2,200 Lowes and Home Depot stores in the United States. This will mean a considerable increase in demand for our decorative panels using HDDP technology, and the number of models we offer,” Messier explained. The company currently offers over 70 panel models in many different looks (concrete, barn wood, brick, etc.).
Several jobs to fill
The new equipment will be fully installed by next month, and the new lines will be operational this fall. Around 20 new positions will be created, including:
- Day labourers
- Electromechanics
- Forepersons
- Finishing line operators
- Wide format printer operators
“We have already started recruiting to quickly fill the available positions. We also intend to hold an open house in October to meet additional qualified applicants. In the meantime, we invite anyone interested to send us their resume,” said Messier.
André Barnabé concluded, “The Saint-Hyacinthe Technopole team is pleased to contribute to Ampro Forest Products’ success and growth. The services we offer to Saint-Hyacinthe businesses help bring in numerous job-creating investment projects like this one. Congratulations to Mr. Messier and his team on their success.”
